Linear periodically time-varying scaling and its properties

چکیده
Stimulated by a general necessary and sufficient condition for robust stability of sampled-data systems stated in an operator-theoretic framework, we introduce a novel technique called linear periodically timevarying (LPTV) scaling. We then give a simple example of sampled-data systems in which this new scaling allows exact robust stability analysis for static uncertainties while the conventional linear timeinvariant (LTI) scaling fails to do so. This leads us to an interesting question whether LPTV scaling can be effective also in other situations, e.g., in the robust stability analysis of continuous-time feedback systems regarded as a special class of sampled-data systems, or for other classes of uncertainties. We thus study some basic properties of LPTV scaling by confining ourselves to the so-called D-scaling, and show that it provides no advantage over LTI scaling when it is applied to continuous-time LTI feedback systems, regardless of the class of uncertainties we take into consideration. This demonstrates that the LPTV scaling of the type we deal with in this paper is in some sense a special technique for sampled-data systems but is indeed an effective and more natural technique than the conventional LTI scaling as far as such systems are concerned. The technique can be further extended to include what is called noncausal LPTV scaling, and the implication of the present study in such a larger framework of LPTV scaling is also described.

Noncausal linear periodically time-varying scaling for discrete-time systems
A novel technique called noncausal linear periodically time-varying (LPTV) scaling was introduced recently, and it was shown that even static noncausal LPTV scaling has an ability of inducing frequency-dependent scaling if it is interpreted in the context of the conventional scaling approach. Motivated by this preceding study of ours, this paper studies to exploit this attractive property and d...
متن کاملModal Analysis of Periodically Time-varying Linear Rotor Systems using Floquet Theory (Paper-ID 78)
General rotor systems possess both stationary and rotating asymmetric properties, whose equation of motion is characterized by the presence of periodically time-varying parameters with the period of half the rotation. This paper employs the Floquet theory to develop the complex modal analysis method for periodically time-varying linear rotor systems. The approach is based on decomposition of st...
متن کاملDiscrete-Time Noncausal Linear Periodically Time-Varying Scaling for Robustness Analysis and Controller Synthesis
Since modeling of real plants inevitably gives rise to modeling errors regarded as uncertainties, considering robustness for the uncertainties is important in actual control problems. For tackling issues of analyzing robust stability of closed-loop systems in a less conservative fashion, the μ-analysis method is known to be effective. As an alternative approach to robust stability analysis, on ...

In this work, a new mathematical model of thermoelasticity theory has been considered in the context of a new consideration of heat conduction with fractional order theory. A functionally graded isotropic unbounded medium is considered subjected to a periodically varying heat source in the context of space-time non-local generalization of three-phase-lag thermoelastic model and Green-Naghdi mod...
